Wielangta Forest Drive

An interesting and scenic alternative route between the east coast and the Tasman Peninsula, this 35 km drive links Orford with Bream Creek and Copping, taking a good gravel forestry road through tall eucalypt production forests and passing the Sandspit Forest Reserve on the Sandspit River, with its pockets of relict rainforest. Enjoy a picnic at the Thumbs Lookout just south of Orford or the Sandspit Forest Reserve. There are several lookout points with spectacular views of the coast, islands and ocean. Roadside signage explains how the areas working forests are being managed.

Wychwood Garden & Nursery

Wychwood Garden and Nursery, Mole Creek, is a stunning example of a beautiful temperate garden. It features unusual plants, particularly those that can withstand heat and frost. The garden and nursery cover around one hectare (2.5 acres) and are nestled under the Great Western Tiers, near picturesque Mole Creek, northern Tasmania. Wychwood is a leisurely one-hour drive from Launceston and Devonport, on Highway B12 (Cradle Country Touring Route), the main road to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, and just near Mole Creek Caves.
