About this property

Summary

"Welcome to 'Gorgeous on Gleadow,' a charming companion to its neighboring cottage, 'Gorgeous on Gleadow: The Twin.'" This stunning little cottage is a quintessential Invermay home. Oozing character and boasting modern comforts this home is the perfect location to enjoy Launceston and the surrounds.

Lovingly restored this home also enjoys modern features including a huge skylight, enclosed fireplace, cute kitchen with a butchers block bench top and so much more.

Space

Both bedrooms are at the front of the home, one on either side of the hallway. Both have plenty of storage and have individual heating to ensure your comfort in those cold Tasmanian winters.

From the hall you enter the combined kitchen, living and dining area. The kitchen is on the left and the lounge on the right. The bathroom, laundry and separate toilet are through a door from the living room. But potentially the most loved area of the home is the sun room which is off the kitchen, from here you can also access the deck and large gardens.

Across the road from the football stadium and within a comfortable 10 - 15 minute walk from the city you can park your car safely out the back and explore on foot should you wish.

You will also enjoy a large smart TV, unlimited internet and an additional cosy sunroom to while away the hours.

The backyard, including the BBQ, is shared with the neighbouring property and you are welcome to head out and enjoy the variety of plants and vegetables.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire property. Please note that the backyard and BBQ are shared spaces.

The Neighborhood

Neighbouring the Launceston CBD, the suburb of Invermay is a lovely part of Launceston. Built on the mud flats, before the flood levy was built, Invermay was prone to flooding. Many homes still bear the scars of the floodwaters to this day in stained floorboards and plaster. A suburb traditionally known as an industrial suburb, Invermay now enjoys a new and funky lease on life. Although there is still some commerce peppered throughout the suburb, the gorgeous weatherboard cottages are now sought after and are lovingly being restored back to their former glory!

There are numerous eateries, bars and takeaways nearby, as well as a Kmart, a Coles supermarket, newsagency, chemist, bakery and liquor outlet! Nearby restaurants and eateries of note are Me Wah Chinese restaurant and Café Blue. The Seaport precinct is also within a short stroll showcasing some of Launceston’s most beloved restaurants, cafes and bars. For the kids, the Riverbend park is an absolute must see with architecturally designed play areas catering to all ages.

Invermay is not only home to the University of Tasmania, but also the UTAS AFL Stadium. The QVMAG Museum is located right next to the stadium. You will also find the Star theatre close by for a cosy, old style cinema experience with tasty treats, grazing options and wine on the menu.

The Launceston CBD only being a short stroll away, enabling you to access many delicious cafés and restaurants, an array of shops and boutiques, a vast range of cocktail bars and pubs and many amenities and recreational spaces. The City Park is not to be missed, surrounded by beautiful oak tree gardens, you will find unique and fun experiences to enjoy such as train rides, a playground for the children, a plant-filled conservatory, and cheeky snow monkeys.

Further afield is the Cataract Gorge. Here you will find a spectacular natural formation where you can enjoy long and short walks with breathtaking views, dive into the fresh basin waters, take a ride on one of the world's longest, single-span chairlifts and experience the natural fauna and flora that Tasmania has to offer, including our vibrant peacocks! An additional, unique way to experience this attraction is via the Tamar Cruise vessel, which cruises through the waters that carve between the rocky formations. Showcasing the best of Tasmania's wilderness, this attraction is a must-see.

Invermay is a spectacular base to explore launceston.
